About South Central Railway Zone

South Central Railway Zone is simply abbreviated as “SCR”. It is one of the 17 IR Zones. SCR Zone has established in the year 02^nd Oct of 1996 and also started operations under Indian Railways on the same date. The SC Railway is about the length of 5803 meters and consists of mixed track gauge. South Central Railways is the sub-zone of Southern Railway Zone.

SCR Zone Divisions

According to SCR Zone map, the zone is divided into 06 divisions and they are of the following:

1. Firstly, Hyderabad Division
2. Secondly, Secunderabad Division
3. Thirdly, Vijayawada Division
4. Guntakal Division
5. Guntur Division
6. Hazur Sahib Nanded Division

Mechanical Workshops at the following places of  Tirupati, Rayanapadu, and Lallaguda

South Central Railways Covering States

The following are the South Central Railways (दक्षिण मध्य रेलवे) that spreads across the state:

• Andhra Pradesh State
• Maharashtra State

It also covers small portions of other states like

• Karnataka State
• Madhya Pradesh State
• Tamil Nadu State
• Maharashtra State

• Firstly, Midlife Coach Factory at Kurnool District
• Secondly, Bogi Components Manufacturing Unit at Thottambedu
• Thirdly, Electric Loco Shed in Guntakal
• Lastly, Periodic Wagon Overhauling Workshop at Kazipet

SCR Zone Achievements

The following are the achievements of SCR Zone:

• Firstly, SC Railway has topped among all Indian Railway Zones in regarding punctuality and Passengers earnings in the year 2016 to 2017
• Secondly, South Central Railways is the 01st railway zone to complete 100% LED lighting in all 373 railways stations of India.
